چکیده

Germination is considered a critical step in the development cycle of plant. But no information available regarding seed priming with Putrescine, Jasmonic acid, Kinetin, Potassium Nitrate (KNO3), Salicylic acid at time aged and non-aged seeds sorghum cultivars. However, to know effect aforesaid chemicals cultivars on germination rate, vigour alpha-amylase activity, research was conducted under laboratory condition, Field Crops Central Research Institute, Ankara, Turkey. Aged unaged Sugar Grazer II Digestivo hybrid silage were used as material experiment. KNO3 chemicals. The results revealed that un-aged showed different responses similar chemical application had positive rate alpha-amylase, Whereas Putrescine applications seeds. Priming putrescine, jasmonic best

Inheritance of Resistance to Sorghum Shoot Fly, Atherigona soccata in Sorghum, Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench

Sorghum production is affected by a wide array of biotic constraints, of which sorghum shoot fly, Atherigona soccata is the most important pest, which severely damages the sorghum crop during the seedling stage. Host plant resistance is one of the major components to control sorghum shoot fly, A. soccata. To understand the nature of gene action for inheritance of shoot fly resistance, we evalua...

Effect of Seed Priming on Early Development of Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) and Striga hermonthica (Del.) Benth

Striga hermonthica is an obligate, root parasite, that limits cereal production in sub-Saharan Africa. Successful control depends on eliminating its seed reserves in soil, thereby preventing parasitism. Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of salinity on germination traits and seedling growth of sorghum (cultivar Wad Ahmed) and S. hermonthica. The experiments were conducted in...

Effect of temperature on seed setting behaviour in rabi sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L). Moench)

Pollen viability is an important parameter of yield as for as interaction of temperature with seed setting is concerned. Rabi sorghum is one of the major cereal crops after rice, wheat and maize. In sorghum seed setting is affected when the flowering period coincides with minimum temperature. In this context comparison was made with pollen fertility percentage and seed setting percentage vs min...

A field experiment was conducted in 2010, to evaluate the effects of plant density (D1, D2 and D3: 8, 14 and 20 plant/m2) on field performance of Sorghum under different nitrogen application rates (N1, N2 and N3: application of 40, 80 and 120 kg/ha Nitrogen, respectively). The experiment was arranged as factorial based...
